This Week’s Quotation:
My concern for the moment is not helping you to find the solution to your problem but rather to assist you to see wherein you have not fully functioned within the scope of your present capacity in letting the power of prayer be made manifest in relationship to this situation.
~ Lloyd Arthur Meeker
The Power of Prayer
The power of prayer in a healing context is well-documented from a scientific standpoint by Dr. Larry Dossey and others. And, of course, prayer is familiar in a religious context. But scientific studies don’t necessarily tell us how to pray or what kind of prayer is the most powerful. It tends to study what happens in the human experience by looking at it from the outside without knowing what it feels like from the inside. And prayer in a religious context can sometimes be by rote without really engaging the soul.
What does prayer mean to you? And what is its relevance to the experience of Attunement? The origin of the word simply meant “to ask.” This definition takes me to something primal and essential.
You might wonder, “Who or what are we asking?” God, by whatever name? The world? People?
What if we looked at everything as God? Nature, people, the world, the solar system, and the universe? What if we included the origin and source of all those realities? What if we understood that all things are alive and sentient in their own way, partaking in a cosmic reality that is ultimately harmonious?
Now think about prayer in that context. We are part of that alive, sentient, cosmic reality. In prayer, we ask for that reality to hear us and the creative urge moving through our awareness. We are channeling the desire of this cosmic reality to thrive. And we are expressing that desire.
In prayer, we are asking the universe to respond. We say, Hear me. Respond to this expressed need. Answer this desire. And the universe listens.
Consider the alternative. We are aware of the great urge to live and thrive in a particular circumstance. And we shut our mouths and say nothing? Tell no one? We don’t tell the universe?
The universe is not a genie in a lamp, there to do our bidding as human beings. But by its very nature, it listens to itself. It hears the voices of her children. And we are her children.
The universe listens to the voice of its Creator. And we can be that voice when we pray.
That is Attunement.
What is Attunement?
Attunement is a consciousness practice and an energy medicine practice that leads to personal spiritual regeneration.
Yes, prayer is Attunement and Attunement is prayer. In my distance attunement practice of sending radiant energy and blessing to a list of people in need, as the voice of the Creator I am simply “asking the universe to respond,” totally confident that the universe will hear my voice.
Have you ever had just the right words show up at just the right time?
What if we looked at everything as God? Nature, people, the world, the solar system, and the universe? What if we included the origin and source of all those realities? What if we understood that all things are alive and sentient in their own way, partaking in a cosmic reality that is ultimately harmonious? David Karchere
Thank you , yes prayer is a way of living too, to always be aware that I can do it when I am with people or on my bike, in difficult situations, or to celebrate being alive!
Absolutely. Shall we add to the wise dictum “never underestimate the power of spiritual expression” the parallel statement “never underestimate the power of genuine prayer.” With you all the way, David. Love, tom
