Hello there!
Well, today was the day for the Attunement presentation at my neighbouring Skeetchestn Indian Band (SIB). Wow! How much Fun we had!
I know that you were with Marilyn Manderson and me to support us in Spirit…and I am sooo thankful for your loving surround.
The idea of offering Attunement to this community has been percolating in me for several years now, and upon my initial contact with SIB I was invited to set up a Booth at the Skeetchestn Community School (Kindergarten to Grade10) Career and Health Fair on April 17th. Other than having a table and doing some sort of “presentation,” I didn’t know what to expect. I jumped at the chance!
A week prior to the day, I found out the presentation was mainly answering questions the students would have for us… “What do you do? What is Attunement? How long have you been doing this? What got you interested in this? What do you like most about it?”
Once the students had asked the questions and were satisfied with the answers, we would give them a sticker for their sticker book. If they completely filled their book with stickers, they received a ticket for a door prize. This was all arranged by the school.
I was very thankful to have Marilyn join me this day, as I was not certain how one person could answer the students’ questions and share Attunement, if the opportunity came about, at the same time. It all turned out well with the two of us and was quite a busy morning… At first the children were mostly concerned with getting the sticker book filled. They approached our table, hoping to get a sticker right away, but when they asked, “What do you do?” their expressions changed to genuine curiosity and they felt the love we had to offer through our explanations.
It was such a joy for us to exchange our gifts with these beautiful young people. I overheard one little girl ask Marilyn, “Are you this happy all the time?” Another said to me, “Your voice is just so soothing.” One little girl kept coming back to our table and mentioned how “good” she felt around us… What a gift!
Three small schools were in attendance at the event: Skeetchestn, the local Savona School, and another Native School. (I’m not exactly sure where they were from, but one child said she was from Canim Lake and another was from Dog Creek.) The adults present were either working at the school, supervising, or other presenters with a booth of their own.
My goal was to introduce my Attunement Service to the Skeetchestn Community, and I did just that! Besides the school, there were three main community groups that were interested in what we had to offer: The child and family services, The Elder Services, and the local Skeetchestn Health Clinic—together encompassing the community as a whole. The coordinators of each of these groups inquired at our booth and were very interested in what we had to offer their people.
We were able to share three individual Attunements throughout our time there. One was a teacher at the Skeetchestn School, one girl working with the Health Clinic, and a local fellow who is a Horse whisperer (Floyd and I actually hired him to train our little filly this year). The Attunement session, of course, attracted some attention. The children would come around and make some wonderfully innocent remarks… “Oh, Miss _____ you look completely different now!” Or the three boys who stood nearby discussing how they could “feel” the energy!
I feel my Attunement Service to the Skeetchestn Community was received by those present! I have no expectations as to what may come of it, but Marilyn and I, with your loving support, have extended a blessing to this wonderful community that I trust will find its footing where it will…. “Let Love radiate without concern for results”!
