Riding the River of Life

This Week’s Quotation

The process of growing, when it is observed with understanding, is interesting and presents no particular problem. When it is experienced, it tends to appear to contain problems. Any of us, or all of us, could, for instance, and do, watch my little son growing. His little frustrations that are so very real to him are not seen as real problems as far as we are concerned. He is growing; he is going through the process. Those things are real to him, and we must take care not to unduly intensify those frustrations but to guide his activity so that the sense of accomplishment appears through him, so that he does not feel bound by his frustrations but, step by step, gains the victory, the mastery over those things which had seemed to him before to be insurmountable or impossible.

Riding the River of Life

Sece Foster,
Inspirational Speaker, Spiritual Coach & Attunement Practitioner

Sometimes growing feels like riding a river. There are stretches where the water is calm and serene. Then, of course, at some point we ride the rapids. In those wild moments, it’s tempting to believe that there is something wrong, that we are losing control. It can feel a little scary.

But if we take a breath and zoom out a little and remember: this is the way of the river. Every twist and turn, every rapid and calm pool, is part of the journey. It shapes us, and it’s perfect. How do we make the most of those times when the river of Life seems to be taking us for a wild ride?

From my experience, Attunement invites us to come back to the eternal now, to the sacredness of this exact moment. Not rushing ahead to the outcome. Not judging where we are. But simply being here, bearing witness with love and understanding. Right here, right now, Life is flowing. Growth is happening. When we stay present and trust the inner guidance that moves through us, we find our way—even through the rapids.

As we offer this same sacred witnessing to others, we become anchors of compassion, helping to calm the troubled waters. This is the power available to us in the sacred here and now moment.

Today, let’s honor the holiness of this moment, not just the victories, but the very process of becoming itself. The river knows where it’s going. So does your sovereign soul. Let it happen.

What Is Attunement?

Thank you for this beautiful, profound piece, Sece. Driving back from Canada recently, I found myself wishing away those long miles across the seemingly endless plains. Wishing myself at the end of the journey, wishing myself back home. But when I paused and breathed and took in the beauty of the moment, everything shifted. I’m with you on the journey.

I wouldn’t be doing the spiritual work I’m engaged in now if it were not for spiritual growth and maturing that difficult circumstances in my life made possible. Good to ride the river of life with you, Sece.
