This Week’s Quotation:
Restoring correct polarity to the proper patterns of Deity allows the individual to hold steady without regard to external pressures, and the mind does not attempt to take the ill condition, or the concept about the ill condition, simply to itself to try to figure it out and determine an answer. The mind becomes a channel through which the pressure patterns induced by the circumstance reach through to higher or inner levels of consciousness, whereupon the divine pattern of activity is instituted, movement begins, and it carries on out through the conscious mind into the range of action.
~ Lloyd Arthur Meeker
The Mind Becomes a Channel
I just returned from a visit to England. I had the pleasure of spending the last few days vacationing on the North Devon coast, an enchanting part of the world.
Somewhere into my time away, I became aware of a relaxation of my soul as if I had released a deep, long sigh. In the process, I realized that I had been carrying a lot of stress. And though I accept stress as a potentially creative dynamic in life, I was glad to be releasing it, knowing I was preparing for another cycle of creative activity.
Given the nature of the world in which we live, stress and the external pressures Lloyd Meeker named are practically inevitable. And while the word “stress” can have negative connotations, why should we avoid it? Anything creative involves some kind of stress. At its best, the experience is exhilarating and joyful.
There are many healthy practices that allow the stress of life to be a joy. But here, in this quotation, is the most pivotal of all—our spiritual polarity, and with that, openness of mind. Or, by another name, Attunement.
The mind becomes a channel through which the pressure patterns induced by the circumstance reach through to higher or inner levels of consciousness… What a freeing idea! Don’t trap stress in your mind where all it can do is rattle around your mental processes, creating higher and higher levels of anxiety. Pass it on to the mind of God. Let God deal with it!
Of course, when we do, that isn’t the end of the process. We have to be open to the inspiration that is born out of cosmic mind. We have to receive it in our minds and allow the power of that inspiration to buoy our spirit. As I enter the cycle of creative activity ahead, I’m signing up for that. How ‘bout you?
What is Attunement?
Attunement is a consciousness practice and an energy medicine practice that leads to personal spiritual regeneration.
So good to remember and stay in the place of “holding steady”. Sometimes a reaction just happens and then there are repairs to do. Thank you for bringing this reminder to focus David. Glad you had some time to enjoy away. Welcome back.
I am glad to have read your words about stress and your time of a deep sigh on the coast of England. I am thankfull that you made time to relax your soul, spirit and body.
I can only deal with stress if I create time to rest to meet it and to give it upwards..Some stress is very creative when something new need to be born. Thankyou for your constant pulse and your experience
It is sometimes harder than others to remember that stress can come from expansion and creativity, rather than contraction and discomfort…thank you!!!
It has been said that “Perfect love casts out fear.” Obviously, to be cast out fear has to be welcomed into the higher ranges of consciousness. Don’t trap fear in the mind and wrestle with it there, trying to cast it out. This is futile and even destructive. Yes, the mind is properly just a channel. Only perfect love has the power to cast out fear.
Yes David, I am up for this! How vital this message is for our world in these days! Pointing to the direction of the polarity of our mental capacity in particular is profound. The acknowledgement of the flow of Life from the cosmic realms, through heart, mind, and body into our worlds, such a gift. With this awareness, moment by moment, stress can certainly be experienced as creative and our worlds transformed. I celebrate this living reality with you.
very helpful today David, in gratitude
