The Flow of Meaning
Recently, I attended a community-building breakfast at Gate House Spiritual Centre in Cape Town, attended by twenty vibrantly engaged people. The theme for our time was “Conversation as an Act of Creation.”
We were all vitally interested, keen to know the principles and values that create the optimal conditions for conversation as an effective instrument of creation—for discovery, healing, and transformation. Conversations are so often limited to the mediocrity of socially conditioned encounters with participants holding to fixed positions, consciously or unconsciously held beliefs, or using social politeness to avoid the challenge of dealing with conflicting views.
After keenly engaging in an enquiring conversation for two hours, it became vividly clear that creative conversation only truly happens when all parties share in a transcendent reciprocating flow of meaning.
When we allow our minds and hearts to enter into a deep space of silence that precedes outer communication, a generative atmosphere is created that helps us release our attachments to pre-established assumptions, opinions, and beliefs that inject judgment into the conversational space.
We gift one another inspiring and often unexpected breakthrough thinking and inspiring revelations when we give full-hearted listening and a receptive, attentive mind to set free the flow of wisdom and love that flows to us out of a generative space of silence.
In engaging with one another in this way, we recognized that, while the external pattern of communication can facilitate the conversation experience, a transcendent sourced flow of reciprocating conversation generates far greater meaning and creative impact than a mere social encounter can.
Attuning to the creative source that shapes the flow of our conversations is the magical key that activates the wisdom, love, and creative ingenuity needed to fulfill the creative urge that transcends the external patterns through which a living creation flows.
How beautiful and freeing to know that bringing spiritual essences into our conversation, we light up the flow of thought and feeling as we shine the coherent light of being coming from the unseen dimensions of our human experience.
