Energy medicine practice often involves an extension of healing current through the hands of the practitioner into the energy field of another person. This is true for Reiki, Therapeutic Touch, laying on of hands, Attunement, Johrei, and many other practices. If you were to watch an energy medicine session, that is the obvious part. What is not so obvious is what is going on in the awareness of the practitioner.

Attunement Card 11 addresses the conscious dimension of energy medicine. As any serious practitioner has discovered, to be effective in assisting another person, you have to commit yourself to faith in that person’s core truth, even when they are out of touch with it.

The serious practitioner commits themselves to this as a daily discipline. In the world in which we live, there is ample opportunity to practice.

Gratitude—the spirit of thanksgiving in all things—allows the experience of Attunement of our outer human experience with the inner mystical powers that animate it. Thanksgiving is what allows Shekinah to be expressed, manifest, and known.

Attunement Technique

So we are dealing with what? A process of fighting against disease? Not at all. We are dealing with a creative process that puts something where something has been absent, where it was not. We are not dealing with disease. We are not fighting disease, any more than we would fight the darkness. We are sharing with the Creator the work of putting something somewhere where before it was not. It was absent, perhaps from the liver or something else, in some person’s body or mind or heart. But to put something where there was an absence of that something, that is what we are doing: sharing with God the responsibility of creating. And we cannot do it unless we are in Attunement with God. It is done as we help the individual come into Attunement with God.
