Receiving

This Week’s Quotation:

Just as most of the giving is unconscious, so is most of the receiving. I wonder how much, even now, there is a realization of what it is that is received constantly. Most are very much concerned with what they think they are not receiving, generally according to what they think their rights are. But what about the things we are receiving?

It is rare to find a place where you can have an in-depth conversation about what is really going on for us as human beings. Sure, you can hear people’s opinions on politics, popular culture, or even religion and spirituality. But so often, the conversation doesn’t scratch the surface of what is really happening. And people are just spouting ideas they heard from someone else.

Martin Cecil’s comments are so vital for the Attunement process. They invite us to become aware of what is happening at levels of the human experience that have been unconscious but don’t have to be. They invite us to become aware of what is transpiring below a surface awareness of our world.

During an Attunement, the practitioner is bringing a creative energy field to the recipient. That field is making a life-giving, activating energy more immediately available. That energy is present all the time for us all, moment by moment, day by day. But because of a general unconsciousness, most people receive only a small percentage of it.

I’ve noticed how we can fixate on the surface level of things and decide that what we are receiving is insufficient. And because of that, we can become unconscious of what we are receiving that is generous and never-ending…like life itself, inspiration from within for creative thinking, and the urge to love from within our heart of hearts. To fully receive these things, we have to be conscious they are there and open to them.

Why don’t we try this? Pause at least three times during the day to take a personal inventory of these three things we are continually receiving: 1) life itself, 2) inspiration for creative thought, 3) the urge to love.

Give it a go this week. And if you do, I will be joining you in this daily practice.

What is Attunement?

Attunement is a consciousness practice and an energy medicine practice that leads to personal spiritual regeneration.

When I pause to think of what I am receiving from life,
of care and creative inspiration, of all kinds of needs for body, mind and senses, of friendship and spiritual fellowship…..
that naturally brings the urge to love!

It certainly does require a habit of being conscious of what is truly
provided for the joy of our life. It is there, always present and flowing
abundantly. Dropping those old ways of relating to our world opens
our consciousness to all the glory of life that is constantly flowing out.

Since evacuating Sunrise Ranch I have realized more than ever what an awesome facility Sunrise is, primarily because of the abundant opportunities for spiritual service that are available to me there. Living in a spiritual community multiplies the opportunities for selfless service to others. I am so thankful for this provision of reciprocity that is constantly available to me and the others who live there.

I believe life would change for all of us if we stopped each day and contemplated these things. Thank you, David!
